West Salem High School Trap

West Salem Rod and Gun Club (WSRGC) is home to the West Salem Trap Team, a collaborative with the School District of West Salem. The team competes through the Wisconsin High School Clay Target League, an affiliate of the USA Clay Target League. There are two seasons the team competes in. The spring season begins in late March and runs through May with a state competition and also an opportunity to compete at Nationals. The Fall season starts in September and runs through October. 

Many parents, grandparents and community members come to watch the athletes’ progress. The team meets on Sundays at the club starting at 10am to shoot. Any student in grades 6 through 12 are welcomed to join with parent/guardian approval and a hunter's safety certificate. The West Salem Trap Team has a tradition of success. With success has also come growth. When the team started back in 2017, the team consisted of about 15 athletes. In the spring of 2022, the team has grown to over 60 individuals participating in the league, with over 45 competing at State and a dozen competing at Nationals. None of this success and growth is not possible without the continued support of the parents and all the volunteer coaches and range safety officers to help our athletes.
